Enlargement strengthens our continent, it is an investment in peace and security, it benefits the people. Such a statement made the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

“Enlargement is the Union’s strongest geopolitical tool. It remains the best strategic, future-oriented investment in peace, security, stability and prosperity on the European continent. And its transformative ability to bring concrete benefits to societies and citizens are self-evident. Enlargement is a win-win process.

I cannot prejudge what the outcome of the European Council will be, but I can say on behalf of the European Parliament that we are very closely monitoring, we are close to Georgia, we have always been very vocal in our support.

We would, of course, have questions and those questions would need to be answered. But if there is a possibility for the next step to be taken once the conditions are met, then we would work on them”, - said Roberta Metsola.
