The main New Year tree lights up on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, in front of the Parliament’s building.

The event included speeches by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, Georgian Dream party Chair, Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Dream faction Chairman Mamuka Mdinaradze, and musical performances.

New Year’s decorations have been lit up in other districts of Tbilisi as well.

As Kakha Kaladze said in his speech, today is a special day in the recent history of Georgia.

“My dear people, welcome! Welcome our guests from the region, guests from abroad. I would like to greet our compatriots in emigration with special love. I understand very well how much they want to return to Georgia. They will definitely return home, to Europe. Today is a special day in our country, in the recent history of Georgia.

Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on thisday, getting the status of a candidate, this is the merit of every citizen of our country, this is the result of the struggle that we have gone through for so many years”, - said the Mayor.
