Trial of Mikheil Saakashvili on the case of November 7 to be held today

The trial of Mikheil Saakashvili and the former high-ranking officials accused along with him in the November 7 case will be held today, January 24.

The session is scheduled in the Tbilisi City Court. It is still unknown, whether the third president will participate remotely in the trial.

Saakashvili is accused of mass crackdown on protesters, breaking into Imedi TV and criminally seizing property belonging to Badri Patarkatsishvili on November 7, 2007. He has been charged under the 3rd part of Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to exceeding official authority, which caused a substantial violation of the rights of a natural or legal person, society, or the legal interest of the state. The mentioned crime is punishable by 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
