Government of Georgia should set an example for everyone in terms of transparency and accountability - Kobakhidze

Government of Georgia should set an example for everyone in terms of transparency and accountability. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“Overall, our country is facing a set of serious challenges. We need to develop our economy at a greater pace, complete the already launched infrastructure projects; further solidify the defense and security capabilities of the country; further advance the education, healthcare and social security systems; also, take a good care of arts and culture, sports and youth. There is a need to further strengthen the foreign policy positions of our country as well.

With an aim of achieving maximum results, our performance - government performance - should be based on very strong principles. First and foremost, I believe that the Government of Georgia should set a tone to others in transparency and accountability. Each decision we take should be most accessible to citizens and we should require the same from other public institutions.

Also, we should constantly care for the quality improvement of our work; we should upgrade all the relevant mechanisms of quality control and supervision to minimize the faults. Same applies to the quality of public services. There as well, grievances of our citizens should be drawn to minimum towards the service quality.

In general, decisions related to every topic should be taken on the grounds of rather comprehensive consultations with the society, subject-matter specialists and industry representatives. Always, when taking decisions, society should be given a clarification on the essence and reasoning of such decisions. It should be one of the guiding principles of our performance.

One of the crucial topics is the Clinical Hospital and here again, we need to hold active consultations with the subject-matter specialists, medical doctors, hospital staff to make sure that relevant decisions get taken at the end of the day”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
