296 families living in the disaster area have been moved to a safe place and documentation is being prepared so that appropriate compensation can be given to affected families. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“Last week was very painful for us. 14 people lost their lives due to natural disasters and accidents. Once again, I express my condolences to the family members and relatives of the deceased.

I got acquainted with the relief efforts on the spot and I would like to point out that both state agencies and local Government representatives have done a lot. They acted very quickly, electricity and natural gas supply was restored very soon.

Also, the highways were cleared very quickly, traffic was restored on the relevant sections. About 400 residential houses were flooded, of which the pumping works have already been completed in more than 300 cases.

296 families have been transferred to a safe place before the final report is prepared. Damages were also assessed. Documentation is being prepared to issue compensations to the respective families. If necessary, funds will be allocated from the central budget.

I would like to thank the relevant ministries, which were most actively involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the disaster - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Environment. Also, thanks to the regional department of the government administration, representatives of local government, rescuers, to all those people who were involved in these works”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
