The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met today with Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.
At the meeting, held within the framework of the newly approved Prime Minister’s first foreign visit to Brussels, the officials discussed the priorities outlined by the European Commission for Georgia to open accession talks with the EU. As Irakli Kobakhidze said, the country continued to “closely coordinate and cooperate with EU institutions to implement the EU recommendations”.
He also spoke about the efforts made by the Government in this direction and briefed the EU Commissioner on current events and future plans.
“Following the European Commission’s annual enlargement report, Georgia developed a specific action plan in November 2023 to fulfil the bloc’s recommendations. The implementation process was actively underway”, - added Irakli Kobakhidze.
The conversation also touched on the cooperation between Georgia and the European Union in different directions. The sides focused on security challenges in the Black Sea region and the world while discussing the ways to solve the existing challenges.
