Prime Minister of Georgia continues his meetings in Brussels. He met with the President of the European Parliament. Roberta Metsola congratulated Irakli Kobakhidze on his appointment as the Prime Minister and wished him success.
The parties summarized the progress achieved by Georgia on the way to join the European Union, and also reviewed the implemented and ongoing measures to ensure the integration of Georgia into the EU.
The Head of the Government spoke about the importance of granting the candidate status to Georgia and noted that under his leadership, the Georgian Government continues to work to achieve further progress in the process of the country’s accession to the EU.
Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the role of the European Parliament and the importance of its support in the process of Georgia joining the EU. The parties assessed the dynamics of cooperation between Georgia and the European Parliament and expressed their readiness to strengthen the partnership.
The parties also discussed the security challenges in the region and the world and discussed ways to solve them. Emphasis was placed on the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze thanked Roberta Metsola for her steadfast support of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
