Ukraine is in a war, Government of Georgia is not going to enter into polemics with [David] Arakhamia, other politicians. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia, while commenting the words of Arakhamia [leader of the Servant of the People faction in the Ukrainian Rada]
Irakli Kobakhidze described his statement as “regrettable”.
“Georgia strongly supports the Ukrainian people. We confirm our solidarity with Ukraine and this is expressed not only in words but by supporting over 600 acts, resolutions, documents or other decisions, humanitarian aid.
Such incomprehensible decisions, reinforce our faith that some things do not happen as they should.
However, Ukraine is in a difficult condition, Ukrainian people are in a war. Therefore, we respect the Ukrainian people and we are not going to enter into polemics with Arakhamia or other politicians”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
He reminded the Ukrainian authorities of the recall of the Ukrainian Ambassador from Georgia and Mikheil Saakashvili’s allegedly being in a “dying condition”.
“Holding high positions in the Ukrainian government by Georgia’s wanted criminals do not suit historic and friendly relations between Georgia and Ukraine”, - added the Head of the Government.
David Arakhamiia said that 3 conditions should be met for the normalization of Georgia-Ukraine relations: 1. Mikheil Saakashvili should be released and returned to Ukraine; 2. Direct flights with Russia should be suspended, as Georgian people also demand; 3. Aiding the aggressor in bypassing sanctions should terminate.
