Parliamentary delegation of Georgia, led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania

The delegation of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, headed by Chairman Nikoloz Samkharadze, convened with Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu. Discussions revolved around political ties and economic collaboration between Georgia and Romania.

Special emphasis was placed on Georgia’s European integration process and the pivotal role of Romania’s steadfast backing along this trajectory.

Additionally, deliberations encompassed forthcoming actions within the current strategic partnership between both nations. The plight of Georgia"s occupied territories and matters concerning non-recognition policy received notable attention during the meeting.

“During our meeting with the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, we discussed the enhancement of our strategic partnership. We were assured by the minister that within a few days, they will officially transmit to us the action plan for our strategic partnership. Following our deliberations, this action plan will undergo final approval”, - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.

During our discussions, a key topic was economic cooperation, particularly concerning the Black Sea submarine cable project, jointly initiated by Georgia and Romania. The participants underscored the project"s status as a priority for both nations.

The delegation from the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament is headed by the Committee’s Chairman, Nikoloz Samkharadze. Joining him are other distinguished members, including Irakli Beraia, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee; Mariam Lashkhi, First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee; Giorgi Chakvetadze, First Deputy of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee; and Aleksandre Motserelia, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee.
