Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with representatives of the International Monetary Fund Mission.
The conversation at the meeting focused on the country’s positive economic trends. The dynamic of budget implementation and medium-term projections were discussed.
It was noted that, despite the pandemic and consequent geopolitical situation, the implementation of a proper and consistent fiscal policy has brought about positive outcomes in every sector.
The parties also discussed macroeconomic trends. It was noted that, after double-digit economic growth, Georgia maintains this position. The average economic growth in 2023 reached 7,5%, while continuing with 5,8% in 2024, according to preliminary statistics for January.
Special attention was paid to the importance and role of Georgia’s receiving the EU membership candidate status, including in the direction of reforms planned in the area of public finance management.
