The statements of NGOs are already astonishing. We have seen their statement suggesting that apparently the authorities should not react to differing opinions. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament.
“If NGOs think that there should be two opinions on the country’s sovereignty, then what we are dealing with is evident. This is precisely the harmful influence of foreign funding, when an organization has 100% funding.
This is exactly what some of these organizations want – to establish the notion that there are two opinions on the country’s sovereignty, with one opinion stating that independence is important and the other questioning whether it is possible to erase the 30-year history of independence – which we built through struggle and sacrifice – in one fell swoop.
The Georgian authorities will not compromise on this issue. Naturally, no one will relinquish sovereignty and independence achieved through sacrifice. They must respect the Constitution of Georgia and its sovereignty. Those who believe that there can be two opinions on this matter have no place in public discourse”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
