Successful implementation of ongoing and planned projects by the Ministry, as well as the Government plans and various reforms, had led to a safe status for the country in the international arena, said the Interior Minister in the Parliament.
In his address to the legislature, Vakhtang Gomelauri said statistical data and international studies “demonstrate the effectiveness” of the reforms and his body’s work on combating crime, and gave a “high evaluation” to the efforts of Georgian law enforcement officers.
“Georgia improved position in 2023 report on Global Law and Order by Gallup [Washington-based analytics and advisory company]. The country had been ranked ahead of France, Italy, Australia, Hungary, Belgium, Canada, Japan and Croatia, among others.
The index is based on a survey conducted in different countries, through which citizen"s personal safety, feeling of security and their level of trust in law enforcement agencies are evaluated”, he added.
Georgia had ranked next to Austria, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates with 87 points.
Our country had been deservedly granted the European Union membership candidate status in December. Georgia had successfully overcome challenges despite the complex processes in the world”, - said the Minister.
