The Georgian delegation took part in the plenary session of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for EU Affairs of the Parliaments of the European Union [COSAC] in Brussels, Belgium.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, delivered a speech at the plenary session of the COSAC.
She spoke at the session about the importance of EU enlargement policy for ensuring peace and security in Europe. Botchorishvili highlighted the progress of Georgia in the EU association process and underlined the EU integration steps: “As of present, we aspire to fulfill 9 steps set out by the EU striving to maintain the positive dynamics in terms of conformity with the EU foreign and security policy regardless of the security challenges that we are exposed to due to the occupation of Georgian regions by Russia”.
According to her, the candidate states need to acquire effective integration mechanisms to accelerate the economic and political integration into the EU.
The delegations of the European affairs committees of the parliaments of the 27 EU member states and candidate countries, as well as representatives of the EU institutions, were participating in the plenary session of COSAC. The Georgian delegation participated in the meeting with the following members: Maka Bochorishvili, Levan Karumidze, Viktor Sanikidze and Giorgi Khakhubia, members of the European Integration Committee", the information states.
