On this symbolic day, Georgia took another big step towards the final victory, which is the complete de-occupation of our country. Such a statement made today the Minister of Justice, while commenting the judgement of the European Court of Human Rights.
“Georgia has won multiple times since 2012 and proved the Georgian truth. Namely, in the case of deported Georgians, the Strasbourg Court ruled against Russia and obliged it to pay 10 million as compensation. Another historic decision was made in the war case. On a global scale, we can say that Russia occupies one part of Georgia’s territory. It is a confirmed fact. Cases filed against Georgia were not put into production.
Today, on this symbolic day, another historic struggle ended in Georgia’s victory, and I congratulate all Georgians. Today’s judgement underscored Georgia’s territorial integrity and the unlawfulness of the borderization process.
Any restriction set by de-facto agencies was declared as incompatible with the Convention. It was determined that the right to life, prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment, right to liberty and security, right to property and freedom of movement were violated regularly.
This victory has many heroes. I would like to thank the employees of the Justice Ministry, State Security Service, General Prosecutor’s Office and Ministry of Internal Affairs for cooperation”, - said Rati Bregadze.
The European Court of Human Rights published today its judgement in the case of Georgia vs Russia. ECHR ruled on multiple violations of the European Convention concerning the human rights toll caused by the hardening of boundary lines after the 2008 conflict.
