ECHR has found Russia responsible for mass persecution, detaining, and restraining the freedom of movement of the Georgian population - Kobakhidze

The Prime Minister of Georgia responds to the decision of the European Court of Human Rights.

“Georgia has won a major victory in the Strasbourg Court.

The European Court has found Russia responsible for mass persecution, detaining, and restraining the freedom of movement of the Georgian population in the occupied territories and along the occupation line.

Once again, it has been reiterated on the highest judicial level that Russia is responsible for actions violating the European Convention and manifested in so-called borderization and continuous, systematic human rights violations.

Through the decision of the European Court, Georgia’s territorial integrity has been once again clearly emphasized and our country’s sovereignty has been further cemented.

I would like to thank state institutions-the Justice Ministry, the State Security Service, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, and the Interior Ministry-and everyone who has contributed to this major victory”, - writes Irakli Kobakhidze.
