The Prime Minister of Georgia said today that joining the European Union is country’s medium-term prospect.
In his remarks at the joint press conference with the German Chancellor, Irakli Kobakhidze noted that “Georgia would continue to implement reforms within the framework of the 9 steps outlined by the European Commission”.
“The medium-term prospect of Georgia is to join the European Union, the European Union, which unites free peoples from Lisbon to Tbilisi, as the Federal Chancellor very correctly pointed out two years ago.
We continue the process of implementing reforms. We are doing this within the framework of the recommendations outlined by the European Commission and we hope that the reforms implemented by Georgia will receive an appropriate assessment from the EU.
The discussions with Olaf Scholz also focused on the security matters in the South Caucasus region. I would like to emphasize that, in light of the current processes, Germany’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia is of particular importance, for which I would like to express my special thanks to the Federal Chancellor”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
