The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with the newly appointed Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) Bettina Patricia Boughani.
The conversation touched on the difficult situation in the occupied regions of Georgia in terms of security, human rights and humanitarianism.
The most important role of the EU Monitoring Mission was noted both in terms of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement of August 12, 2008, as well as the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the prevention of escalation.
According to the Head of Government, in accordance with the mandate, it is important to use all available tools to ensure the access of the EU Monitoring Mission, and the Government of Georgia is ready to firmly continue cooperation with the EUMM as the only international mechanism on the ground.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the extension of the Mission’s mandate until December 2024.
