Branding the bill as the “Russian law” is a discrediting political metaphor aimed at provoking public indignation

The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, highlighted the Government’s Western course, and further noted that “the bill, which envisages transparency, cannot prevent Georgia from joining the EU”.

In his interview with the BBBC, Nikoloz Samkharadze noted that branding the bill as the “Russian law” is a “discrediting” political metaphor aimed at provoking public indignation, since “everything that is called Russian in Georgia causes public indignation”.

“It is no coincidence that our opponents call this bill the “Russian law”. There is no similarity between the Russian law and the Georgian bill. Our party - the Georgian Dream - made the amendments to the constitution and incorporated a new article, which envisages Georgia’s accession to the EU and NATO. Our course is declared to be Western and the bill, which envisages transparency, cannot prevent Georgia from joining the EU”, - added Nikoloz Samkharadze.
