Protesters called for storming Government Administration building - Interior Minister

Society saw well that the rally organizers and participants tried to remove police officers mobilized to ensure public order at the Government Administration [GA] and enter into conflict with them, said today the Minister of Internal Affairs, during an interpellation at the Parliament.

“On the 3rd day of protests, a police cordon was not mobilized around the parliament building because the work process in the parliament was over and nobody was inside the building. We left the adjacent territory, and the police officers were dispatched to Rustaveli Avenue to ensure security. The protest proceeded peacefully, but the main aim was to stir conflict.

I presume that relocation to the GA has this in mind. Society witnessed that the rally organizers and participants tried to remove police officers mobilized to ensure public order at the GA and enter into conflict with them. They attempted to intrude into the administrative building, calling to storm the GA.

Participants verbally assaulted police officers, and opposition representatives were especially active, though I would refrain from uttering their names and surnames. Calls for violence were heard in the open air of TV stations. Society witnessed a participant of the rally armed with a knife standing next to them. The individual was detained shortly. During detention, he injured our officer in his hand with a knife”, - said Vakhtang Gomelauri.
