Irakli Kobakhidze meets with Latvian, Estonian, Icelandic, Lithuanian foreign ministers

The Prime Minister of Georgia met with the Foreign Ministers of Latvia, Estonia, Iceland, and Lithuania to discuss Georgia’s European integration process and the recently adopted Law on Transparency.

Irakli Kobakhidze underlined Georgia’s progress in the European integration process, emphasized the importance of opening accession talks.

The discussions also focused on the recently adopted transparency law. The Head of the Government reaffirmed the willingness to consider substantive opinions and legal comments on the law.

He highlighted Georgia’s leadership among EU membership candidate countries in various areas such as democracy, rule of law, human rights, and economic development, stressing the need for the EU to respond accordingly.

Irakli Kobakhidze reiterated that the law aimed to strengthen the state sovereignty and to ensure transparency in funding received by non-governmental and media organizations.
