If our strategic partner wants visa-free travel, free trade, direct flights, of course, we are open and we welcome all this - Kaladze

If our strategic partner wants visa-free travel, free trade, direct flights, of course, we are open and we welcome all this - the ball is in their court. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi, while commenting the article of POLIRICO.

“I want to emphasize why the Law on Transparency of foreign influence is important. In recent years, we have seen a number of revolution attempts, with the involvement of non-governmental organizations, calls and statements by NGOs that the Government should resign. It is inconceivable NGOs acting like that in a normal country. It is also important to be transparent about who the donor is and what the funds are being spent on.

We also have to protect ourselves and the country from the statements that come from the West, which are insulting. Of course, there are answers from our side. If our strategic partner wants visa-free travel, we are of course open to all this. Specific steps must be taken. The blackmail in connection with the opening of EU negotiations is also unacceptable. Concrete steps must be taken.

No one knows yet where the initiated bill will be and to what level it will reach. If we see concrete steps, they can take them. Once we see concrete steps, the need for the transparency law will not be necessary. This bill is not a controversial topic.

Visa liberalization, trade relations, direct flights and the opening of negotiations with Europe - if we see that concrete steps are taken in this direction, it will be an indication of the desire to settle relations. If all this is done there will be no need for the law”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
