The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, calls on Georgian officials to take into account the recommendations of the Venice Commission.

"The Venice Commission of the Council of Europe strongly advised Georgia to withdraw the Law on Foreign Influence in its current form.

We call on [Georgia’s] officials to take into account the recommendation from the point of view of preserving the fundamental elements of Georgia’s democracy”, - writes Josep Borrell on social network X.

The Venice Commission publishes an urgent opinion on the draft law “On transparency of foreign influence” and “strongly recommends that the “Foreign Influence Transparency” bill be recalled in its current form”.
