Those who invented the “Free Misha” campaign, have also invented the ‘Russian law’ campaign now, unfortunate, we never heard any apology towards the Georgian Court for undue defamation – Papuashvili

For many years now, some foreign ‘partners’, together with their Georgian ‘allies’, have led defamatory attacks on Georgian judiciary. These attacks, mounted with Catilinarian audacity and persistence, aimed at shaking the legitimacy of Georgian judiciary, Georgian government, and, ultimately, the foundations of Georgian state, writes the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia on social network X.

“For many years now, some foreign ‘partners’, together with their Georgian ‘allies’, have led defamatory attacks on Georgian judiciary. These attacks, mounted with Catilinarian audacity and persistence, aimed at shaking the legitimacy of Georgian judiciary, Georgian government, and, ultimately, the foundations of Georgian state.

But, for the umpteenth time, the European Court of Human Rights, the ultimate instance of European justice, ruled in favor of Georgian judiciary. Today we have learned that ECHR, in a unanimously adopted decision, found “no grounds for doubting fairness of criminal proceedings against former Georgian President Saakashvili”. This particular decision concerns two cases, concerning the murder of Girgvliani and assault on MP Gelashvili, for which Saakashvili serves currently his legitimate sentence in a prison clinic.

In each case, when the collective Catilinas tried to defame Georgian judiciary, be it the TV Rustavi 2, imprisonment of former UNM chair Nika Melia, or the recent withdrawal of his own healthcare-based appeal from ECHR by Saakashvili, and ALL other allegedly ‘politically motivated’ cases, ECHR proved Georgian justice right. Incessant attacks, for almost a decade, aimed at leaving negative mark on the image of Georgian judiciary, even if they proved wrong each time.

Those who invented the ‘Free Misha’ campaign, have also invented the ‘Russian law’ campaign now.

It is unfortunate that we never heard any apology towards the Georgian Court for undue defamation. Be it the European Parliament’s resolutions, démarches of foreign diplomats, individual foreign politicians, from the Baltic states in particular, nobody accepted the responsibility for the lies, slander, and disinformation, and calls for sanctions against the Georgian state. Even worse, these infamous waves of baseless criticism were widely echoed by foreign-funded local NGOs. This collusion reveals how this scheme of coordinated foreign influence undermines Georgia’s democracy and stability, requiring greater transparency and public scrutiny.

Luckily, Georgian Government and the Court have the most powerful weapon for defense, which is the truth. And the truth always prevails, even if late.

Now the question is, despite these revelations, for how long are they going to abuse the patience of Georgian people?”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
