Georgia celebrates today the Independence Day. The date is celebrated with festive events.
In particular, the events dedicated to Independence Day will start at 10 AM, at Liberty Square, where, in line with tradition, recruits will take the oath of enlistment. Ceremonies of oath-taking will also take place across Georgia.
A wine space will be arranged on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi to host a fair with winemakers showcasing their products.
At 5:10 PM, the exact historic time of the declaration of Georgia"s independence will be celebrated. The national anthem of Georgia will be performed by 300 children, including students of Georgian diaspora schools operating abroad.
The festive events of May 26 will conclude with a gala concert, A Story about Georgia as its main topic. This year’s gala concert program is dedicated in full to folklore, and it features about 1,000 representatives of folklore ensembles from every corner of Georgia.
Organized by the Government Administration, events celebrating Independence Day will be held in 18 Georgian cities.
Georgian Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated on May 26. It commemorates the adoption of the Independence Act in 1918, which established the Democratic Republic of Georgia in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917.
