The Director of the Tbilisi office of Heinrich Böll Foundation responds to the anti-LGBT propaganda bill on the social network X.

“It seems Georgian Dream ultimately decided to introduce homophobic legislation as ordinary legislation following the oppositions’ refusal to support constitutional amendments. Another story right out of the Russian playbook aimed at winning over conservative voters”, - tweeted Sonja Schiffers.

On June 4, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, announced that the Georgian Dream would today register the package of laws on the “Protection of Family Values and Minors”. According to him, the package includes the core legislation and 18 related amendments to various laws of Georgia, including in the laws on labor and education.
