The election administration publishes a statement

The Central Election Commission publishes a statement regarding the Georgia’s parliamentary election.

“Five months remain until Georgia’s parliamentary election. The election modernization process is at a crucial stage. The Election Administration (EA) is committed to successfully conducting electronic elections (E-elections) in accordance with international standards. Despite the EA’s transparency and efforts to keep stakeholders fully informed about ongoing electoral processes, unverified, baseless, and damaging statements about the election process persist.

Namely, in recent times, groundless statements and assessments have been disseminated regarding elections and the Election Administration’s work including from abroad, as well. Even though the Election Administration acts in full compliance with the principles of independence and impartiality, baseless accusations damaging the institution are spread in this direction as well. It should be underlined that given statements disseminated around the electoral process harm the entire electoral process.

In a polarized electoral environment, such statements create misconceptions and wrong perceptions. The dissemination of conclusions based on these statements damages the reputation of the Election Administration, the overall election environment, and the integrity of the elections. It should be emphasized that the Election Administration"s efforts are focused on preventing political discourse and influence from affecting the election process. In this process, the objective support of stakeholders is crucial. Creating preconceived notions and wrong perceptions will further damage the election environment.

Elections are a common cause. The Election Administration urges electoral stakeholders, including representatives of local and international organizations, to be objective and impartial, and to support the conduct of elections in a fair and transparent manner.

The Election Administration is prepared to hold public meetings with interested individuals and provide comprehensive information regarding the ongoing work for the October 26 elections upon request. We affirm our accountability to the voters and commit to providing them with objective and verified information”, - reads the statement.
