CEC leadership meets with “Fair Elections” representatives to discuss preparations for October 26 elections

26 October 2024 parliamentary elections and the role of observer organizations in the said elections, were discussed at today’s meeting at the Central Election Commission (CEC). The CEC Leadership met with Nino Dolidze, Executive Director of the “International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy” (ISFED), and Levan Natroshvili, Deputy Director.

Giorgi Kalandarishvili, CEC Chair informed meeting participants on those important technological updates and activities which are being carried out by the administration for the 2024 election. As he underscored, a large-scale use of technologies significantly supports the conduct of elections in line with international and European standards.

During the meeting, the parties discussed several important matters including the participation of voters residing abroad and their awareness, electronic voting technologies and related topics, a large-scale information campaign, and its challenges, which are faced by the institution at present. They also discussed the progress of fulfillment of recommendations released by local observer organizations. The CEC Chair once again voiced the readiness to cooperate with local and international observer organizations as part of which stakeholders will be comprehensively informed on all significant updates.

Representatives of “Fair Elections” discussed the plan related to pre-election, election as well as E-day monitoring.

The meeting was held on June 11 at the CEC and together with Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Giorgi Sharabidze, CEC Deputy Chair, Giorgi Javakhishvili, Secretary, Giorgi Santuriani, Head of Legal Department and Eka Tsabashvili, Head of Election Process Management Department were also in attendance.
