Annual report of the Public Defender is being heard in the Parliament

The Public Defender of Georgia presents the 2023 activity report at the plenary session of the Parliament.

The document talks about the situation and challenges in the occupied territories.

Also, on the actions of 2023, it is noted that in 2023 “the challenges related to freedom of assembly remained unchanged, and in some cases, the enjoyment of freedom of assembly - even more complicated”.

At the same time, the Ombudsman notes that, as in previous years, the overcrowding of penitentiary institutions and individual cases of governance with informal methods remain a serious challenge.

According to Levan Ioseliani’s report, the existence of a safe environment for media freedom and journalists’ activities in the country is still a challenge.
