The Varieties of Democracy Institute [V-Dem] published the Executive Oversight Index, which had ranked Georgia among the top 40 countries globally.
In particular, Georgia ranked 38th among the top 40 countries in the global ranking of 166 countries and territories and earned 2.96 points on a 4-point assessment system.
The Executive Oversight Index examines the extent to which legal oversight of the executive power by state institutions overseeing justice, control, and rights protection is possible.
In 2012, Georgia was ranked 73rd globally, and in the following 11 years the country has improved its position by 35 places. The 2023 Index showed that Georgia was ahead of many NATO and European Union member countries, 2 states of the G7 and other developed countries, namely: Japan, Canada, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Poland, Greece, Cyprus, South Korea, Singapore, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, etc.
