Such a statement made today the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, while talking about the statement made by the representative of Russia at the United Nations.

Whether he could have avoided it or not is one issue, but he took concrete steps, on which we had to fight for many years in the Strasbourg and Hague courts, in the conditions when Saakashvili’s government even hid the evidence from us. This is the point, and Russia will make such a statement as it arranges, but Russia and everyone already know very well that the Strasbourg court named it both an aggressor and an occupier.

This issue is over. Now, what processes were going on behind this, it is surprising to find out. First of all, the topic - why Saakashvili says that Russia had a legal basis for the invasion. And if he had such, then why did he create a legal basis for Russia - this is what we are talking about. Now the Russians, the radical opposition, the United National Movement, as they are used to, are trying to make use of it and make statements”, - said Gia Volski.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, said that every year Russia observes the “maniacal desire of its Western colleagues to discuss Saakashvili’s aggression against South Ossetia”. He quoted a statement from the Political Council of Georgian Dream and said, “try to remember these words when my Western colleagues come and lie to you”.
