Stability of foreign policy will be guaranteed in the coming years, country will continue to pursue a firm, pragmatic, results-focused policy – Government’s program

The Georgian government program submitted to the Parliament underscores the commitment to maintaining stability in the country’s foreign policy priorities over the coming years.

It emphasizes that Georgia will persist in its firm, pragmatic, and results-driven approach to international relations.

According to the document, the period from 2020 to 2024 has been characterized by unprecedented international turbulence, with the war in Ukraine fundamentally disrupting the global order and posing an existential threat to both European and global security.

In this context, the government asserts that Georgia’s foreign policy has demonstrated strength and consistency, grounded in the nation’s core values and commitment to international law.

“A key priority for the government is the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity and the unification of the country. We will place special emphasis on keeping this issue on the international agenda and securing support for Georgia’s position.

The Government will continue to employ diplomatic and legal measures to ensure the de-occupation of Georgian territories, implement the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement with the mediation of the EU, and prevent the integration of occupied territories into the political, military, economic, social, and legal frameworks of Russia.

Furthermore, efforts will focus on the return of refugees and internally displaced persons, the protection of human rights in occupied regions, and the promotion of reconciliation among divided communities.

Georgia will engage in active cooperation with individual countries and international organizations to ensure that the peaceful resolution of the Russia-Georgia conflict remains a prominent issue on the international community’s agenda. This collaboration aims to facilitate effective steps toward achieving these goals, particularly in light of the region’s security challenges.

Under the Constitution, the Government reaffirms its unwavering commitment to Georgia’s path toward Euro-Atlantic integration”.
