Investment in sports is an investment in our future, in the health of our children and the development of future champions. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the opening of a multifunctional sports complex in Zugdidi.
"I would like to extend my special gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this vital project to life. My thanks go to the Ministry of Infrastructure, particularly Mr Revaz Sokhadze, the Municipal Development Fund, and all who contributed to the construction of this sports complex. I also wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Asian Development Bank, our long-standing and reliable partner. Once again, I thank the Asian Development Bank for its invaluable cooperation.
In this contemporary, European-level facility, people of any age, professional athletes or amateurs, will be able to train, develop and achieve success. Large and small swimming pools that meet international water polo standards, fitness and strength training halls, all of this will encourage our young people to choose a healthy lifestyle, which is so important for our country. Sport must be accessible to everyone, and, significantly, this sports complex will be accessible to people with disabilities.
A basketball hall, padel court and tennis courts will also be built alongside the sports complex. We will begin implementing this project shortly. All these steps serve the development of sport in our country and represent another expression of our consistent policy.
Developing sports creates new jobs, stimulates the economy, and has a multifaceted positive impact on the country. I believe the new Zugdidi sports complex will foster sports development in the region and across the country, nurturing many future champions. Congratulations on this milestone, and I wish peace and progress for our nation", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
