We had been actively working with Turkish side to restore direct air connections between the two capitals - Georgia’s Turkish Ambassador

Georgia’s Ambassador to Turkey welcomed the resumption of direct flights between Tbilisi and Ankara starting from October.

“In recent months, we have been actively working with the Turkish side to restore direct flights between the capitals of Georgia and Turkey.

We are pleased that recently, during the official visit of the President of Georgia to Ankara, the issue was finally resolved, and direct flights between Ankara and Tbilisi will be restored from October this year, which will certainly contribute to the further development of the tourism sector.

In 2024 more than 1.3 million visitors traveled from Turkey to Georgia. The resumption of flights will further stimulate business contacts, make it easier for Georgian tourists to reach central Turkey, Ankara, and nearby regions, and also play a crucial role in the field of medical tourism. Georgian patients will have much more convenient access to specialized clinics in Ankara.

Therefore, the restoration of direct flights is beneficial and significant in every respect”, - said Archil Kalandia.
