Prime Minister of Georgia together with Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, inspected the construction of the Kvesheti-Kobi Bridge.

Irakli Kobakhidze reviewed the completed and ongoing works on the 23-kilometer Kvesheti-Kobi highway and tunnels.

As part of the project, a two-lane asphalt-concrete road will be built, along with 5 new bridges and 5 tunnels, while one existing bridge will be rehabilitated.

Once the Kvesheti-Kobi highway opens, winter traffic restrictions toward Kobi will be eliminated; residents of up to 10 villages in the Khada Valley will have uninterrupted access to essential services and travel will become safer and more comfortable.

Travel time will be significantly reduced: the Kvesheti-Kobi section will take 15 minutes instead of 1 hour; the trip from Tbilisi to Gudauri will take 1 hour 30 minutes instead of 2 hours; and the journey from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda will take 1 hour 45 minutes instead of 2 hours 30 minutes.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and co-financing from the state budget. Its total value is 1.2 billion GEL, with completion planned gradually between 2025 and 2026.
