The Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili and the President of Georgia, Giorgi Kavelashvili, attended the swearing-in ceremony of Giorgi Modebadze, appointed as the Judge of the Constitutional Court.

"I congratulate Mr Modebadze on his appointment as a judge of the Constitutional Court. This is the highest honour for any lawyer and a great responsibility. It represents the pinnacle of a legal career, which in itself implies that this honour and the accompanying burden must be borne with due integrity and strength", - the Speaker stated at the ceremony.

As he noted, the Constitutional Court plays a special role in the legal development of the country.

"Serving as a judge of the Constitutional Court inherently means that this honor - and at the same time, this burden - must be carried with due responsibility. I wish that through your work, you bear this burden in a way that honors, first and foremost, your own profession and the Constitution itself.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Georgia, making it a particularly significant year. It gives us an opportunity once again to reflect on the constitutional foundations upon which our country stands. In this regard, the Constitutional Court has played a special and vital role in the legal development of our nation", - the Speaker noted.

The President of Georgia appointed Mr. Modebadze to this position yesterday. Pursuant to Article 60 of the Constitution, The Constitutional Court shall consist of nine judges appointed for a term of 10 years, out of which three judges shall be appointed by the President of Georgia, three judges shall be elected by Parliament by a majority of at least three fifths of the total number of its members, and three judges shall be appointed by the Supreme Court.
