Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 13 persons participating in the November, 13 protest rally, in accordance with Georgia`s Code of Administrative Offences.
"On November 19 of the current year, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 13 participants of the protest in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses of Georgia.
The detainees ignored the lawful request of the police officers and verbally abused law enforcement officials while performing their official duties.
We call on citizens to refrain from committing unlawful acts, otherwise the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will act within the framework of the mandate granted by law, identify all violators and take appropriate measures against them as prescribed by the acting legislation", - reads the statement.
At the rally in support of jailed protester Mate Devidze, demonstrators blocked Kakabadze Street. Police subsequently began clearing the road, during which several individuals were detained.
