An attempt to smuggle a particularly large amount of medication containing psychotropic substances into Batumi Airport was prevented.

As a result of the operation conducted by the Customs Officers of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, together with the employees of the Police Department of the Adjara Autonomous Republic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Officers of the “Batumi Airport” Customs Checkpoint prevented the fact of an attempt to illegally import a particularly large amount of psychotropic medication into the territory of Georgia.

Customs officers, based on suspicion, as a result of a detailed examination of the hand luggage of a foreign citizen, identified a total of 212 capsules of psychotropic medication. The law-breaking citizen had secretly placed the aforementioned prohibited medications in 4 packages of pharmaceutical products of different names, along with vitamin pills.

The case materials were transferred to the relevant service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for further response.
