"Today we are summing up the year, which was very successful for our athletes, for our country. The talent, hard work and dedication of our athletes brought our country 1935 international medals in 2025, which is a record figure. For this, we owe special thanks to our athletes.

The Minister of Sports noted that the phrase “for the 1st time in history” was uttered 42 times this year.

For the 1st time in history, our basketball players took a place among the 8 best teams in Europe. This is a special success and for this I would like to thank our basketball players. I want to recall that in this battle they left behind such traditional basketball teams as Spain and France. This is an incredible achievement!

Also, for the 1st time in history, our mixed judo team became the world champion, which is also an incredible success. Thank you to the judokas for this victory. I would also like to recall the success of the handball players, who for the 2nd time in a row managed to overcome the qualifying stage of the European Championship.

For the 1st time, we won the world champion title in fencing. For the 1st time, we won gold at the Winter Olympic Festival. For the 1st time in history, we have a female world champion in judo. This is just an incomplete list of the special and outstanding achievements that our country and Georgian sports had during this year", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
