Mikheil Sarjveladze met with Rolande Pryce, the World Bank Country Director; Rekha Menon, the Health Practice Manager for the Europe and Central Asia region; and other representatives of the organization.

The parties discussed ongoing and planned reforms in Georgia’s healthcare system, as well as other priority areas of cooperation. Special attention was focused on strengthening primary healthcare, improving the quality of medical services, and increasing their accessibility for the population.

The conversation touched upon the mechanism for establishing reference prices for medicines and the activities of the relevant commission, which was positively assessed as an important tool for effective and systemic regulation. It was noted that this mechanism promotes transparency in the pharmaceutical market, the formation of fair prices, and the protection of patients’ interests.

The meeting also emphasized the particular importance of human capital development as one of the determining factors for the country’s long-term socio-economic progress.

It was noted that the World Bank will continue to actively support Georgia in the process of reforms and development across various sectors in the future.
