As part of the fight against illegal migration, employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted special immigration control measures. As a result, 55 foreign citizens were detained, including citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Ivory Coast, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
As part of the measures, the department employees inspected specific locations and facilities of various purposes, which aimed to identify foreign nationals staying in Georgia without a legal basis.
It was determined that the detained persons resided in the country in violation of requirements established by the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.
Currently, the detainees are being held in the temporary accommodation center of the Migration Department. Relevant procedures are underway to expel them from the country.
