Levan Karumidze has been appointed Chairman of the National Gastronomy Agency, a Legal Entity of Public Law (LEPL) established within the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

Karumidze brings long-standing experience in public administration, governance, and international relations. From 2020 to 2024, he served first as Deputy Chair and subsequently as First Deputy Chair of the Parliament's Committee on European Integration.

During the same period, he was also a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations. Karumidze has extensive experience in senior management positions within Georgia’s public sector. Throughout his career, he has served as Deputy Head of the Office of the National Security Council of Georgia, worked in the Administration of the Government of Georgia overseeing relations with the international media, and held executive positions in Legal Entities of Public Law operating under the Ministry of Education and Science.

Levan Karumidze’s professional expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the effective operation of the Agency, the promotion of Georgian gastronomy on the international stage, the preservation and development of the country’s gastronomic heritage, and the strengthening of cooperation with international partners. All these efforts will further enhance Georgia’s positioning as a country distinguished by its rich and unique gastronomic culture.

The National Gastronomy Agency, a Legal Entity of Public Law under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, was established under the Resolution of the Government of Georgia dated 20 July 2026. The Agency’s mandate is to safeguard, develop, and promote Georgia’s gastronomic heritage, enhance its international recognition, and formulate and implement a unified state policy (strategy) for the development of the gastronomy sector.
