Alcoholic beverage quality control results improved in the first 9 months of 2026

According to data for the first nine months of 2026, the number of violations identified through quality control of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia decreased compared to previous years.

Between January and September this year, 251 inspections were conducted at 45 companies to verify that alcoholic beverage samples submitted for certification corresponded to their respective lots. Of the 634 samples collected during the inspections, violations were identified in 9 samples from 4 companies.

In the Customs Clearance Economic Zone, the international auditing companies Bureau Veritas and SGS inspected products from 70 companies. Of the 323 samples collected, violations were identified in 16 samples from 9 companies.

As part of state supervision, 15 inspections were conducted at 5 companies to assess whether wine production processes at their facilities complied with the requirements established by Georgian legislation. No violations were identified in any of the 31 samples collected.

As a result of the control measures carried out, 17 fines were issued in relation to 19 samples from 10 companies. The total amount of the fines was GEL 25,000.
National Wine Agency systematically conducts quality control of wine and other alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia. The quality control system aims to ensure the quality of Georgian alcoholic beverages, protect consumer interests, increase product competitiveness and maintain the reputation of Georgian products in international markets.
