Duisi Cultural Center was saved from burning down by a guard, who noticed the fire and managed to extinguish it . The local population gathered today to protect the only cultural institution in the valley .

The head of the organization recalls the threatening phone calls, which he began to receive after the Cultural Center got engaged in the campaign Violence against women .

Iza Bekauri said that she did not pay particular importance to this fact and therefore, did not report to the police.

People in the Pankisi Gorge refrain from naming particular individuals. The eldest of the valley refrains from talking about this topic openly who also took part in today`s protest rally. He did not rule out that in the case the perpetrators are not punished, the similar facts may become even more large scaled.

Locals also suspect that similar incidents in the Pankisi Gorge are deliberate in order to escalate the situation.

The investigation has not released official information about the suspect in the crime.
