Government admitted that "Gazprom" agreement is result of Russian ultimatum

The government has acknowledged that an agreement reached with the Russian Gazprom is the result of an ultimatum. The officials say that one of the main requests was monetary compensation for gas transit. Otherwise Gazprom would provide gas to Armenia via an alternative route.

The parliamentary opposition are convinced that Gazprom would change conditions again and each time it would become even less profitable for Georgia.

National Movement demands resignation of the energy minister. The non-parliamentary opposition also demanded explanations from the government.

The goverment says that the opponents` accusations are incomprehensible. Some of the Ministers do not see political interest in the demands of Gazprom and point to market principles.
