Broadcasting law will be amended. The initiative group has already appealed to the parliament and MPs are expected to consider the legislative package in a few months The opposition are against the proposed changes .

Republican Party believe that the amendments that have been submitted by the initiative group in parliament will increase the powers of the Director General at the expense of limiting the powers of the Board of Trustees. The party issued a special statement urging the legislature not to vote for the proposal of the initiative group

The legislative package which Tamar Kordzaia istalking about was presented to the parliament by Goga Chartolani and Dodo Shonava. The authors of the initiative rule out the curtailment of rights of the Board of Trustees and say that their controlling function would be increased.

Member of teh Board of Trustees , Sulkhan Saladze believes that if Parliament endorsed the new initiative, the changes in broadcaster`s budget and regulations would be implemented unilaterally.

It is unknown at this point, when the working group is expected to start working . It is expected to include two representatives from the ruling party and opposition.
