New fire has broken out in the Children’s World trade center at six o"clock in the evening. A few hours earlier, the officials said that there was a threat of collapse of the building.
13 thousand square meters were completly destroyed by the fire that supposedly started at 2 o`clock in the morning due to unidentified cause. Thirty one firebrigades and rescue worked on the spot. One of the fireman was slightly injured.
Victims have been asking for the permission to enter the building during the day. The police did not allow them to do so, since there was a threat that the damged building would collapse.
According to Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania, who arrived at the trade center, the center administration should take responsibility before the traders who suffered loss due the fire. David Narmania spoke with the fire-affected traders and viewed the fire site on the ground.
The opposition called Narmania`s statement irresponsible and said that the government should take care of the victims.
The government promised to mediate with the financial institutions to allow a postponement of bank liabilities for the traders who suffered loss due to today’s fire.
The reason for the fire is still unknown. It is also unclear when and in what form the victims will receive help..
