State Protection Service officially confirmed detention of Giorgi Mamladze

The head of the State protection Service, Anzor Chubinidze officially confirmed in an interview with Rustavi 2 the arrest of Giorgi Mamladze.

Anzor Chubinidze confirmed to Rustavi2 journalist Tamar Nutsubidze that the Prosecutor`s office has launched a a criminal case and the investigation is underway.
"All the special services were constantly involved in the protection of the Patriarch, despite that we still decided to come here and see the condition of the Patriarch`s security," said Anzor Chubinidze.

The head of the State protection Service said tha the head of the Security Service of the Patriarch Soso Okhanashvili was interrogated and that the investigative agencies had no questions about him after the testimony.

The head of the Property Management Department of the Patriarchate, Father Giorgi Mamladze was detained on Friday morning at the airport in Tbilisi.The Prosecutor`s Office does not comment on the motives of the cleric`s arrest.
