"Do you agree that the president of Georgia should be elected by the popular vote ?" - The initiative group has addressed the Central Election Commission with a request  to hold a referendum with this question.

Ana Mikeladze, the Speaker of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, explains the procedures after which the request of the initiative group will be sent to the President of Georgia.

"The initiative group has no more than 3 months to collect signatures. After that, they will submit the materials to the CEC and it will be checked.

After that, if the materials are in full compliance with the legislation, the CEC conclusion and the initiative group"s request will be sent to the President. He has 30 days to make a decision,"- said Ana Mikeladze.
