The Constitutional Court has started to discuss the lawsuit of five Religious Communities against the Parliament. The applicants demand to declare the norm about the " state property" , which envisages transferring the state property to the Orthodox church for free as illegal.
The Claimant Party considers that the transfer of property without charge is possible only in regard to the Orthodox church which violates the constitutional principle of equality.
Shota Tutberidze, a lawyer of " Tolerance and Diversity Institute", notes that according to the existing law property can not be transferred to other religious communities.
