The schoolchildren in Akhalgori were given Russian textbooks on the first of September. The occupation regime has banned teaching in Georgian language from the current academic year.
The ban also affected Georgian schools, which are located in the Tskhinvali region.
"This is another step of Russian occupation occupation, which is of course an aggression against Georgia and we should use all political and peaceful methods to end the occupation," - said Education Minister Alexander Jejelava.
State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili assesses the actions of the occupational regime as an unacceptable and provocative step.
